What is Healthy Meal Standard?
Healthy Meal Standard (HMS) is an international Nutrition Category Management System designed to establish safety, traceability, and optimization of the food supply chain with the aim of improving the quality of nutrition for the end consumer. The Healthy Meal Standard is intended for hotels and restaurants, thalassotherapy centers, specialized hospitals, health spas, schools and kindergartens, polyclinics, and all other institutional food service facilities.
Healthy Meal Standard is not a system that merely creates menus, but an international Nutrition Category Management System that monitors and adjusts the entire process—from planning and ordering, through system management (including the allergen control system), all the way to serving dishes to the end user. Healthy Meal Standard is certified upon fulfillment of the necessary requirements by an authorized certification body.
The Healthy Meal Standard is a warranty trademark protected in the EU and the United Kingdom, and as of March 17, 2017, has also been internationally recognized by the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation.
During the certification of the Healthy Meal Standard, healthy stars—i.e. “Healthy Stars”—are awarded depending on the number of successfully certified requirements. categories. HMS is the only nutritional quality system that enables direct engagement with targeted groups of users/guests who have special dietary needs—each of which, at the European level alone, numbers around one hundred million members.
